About me

I was born in Venezuela and completed my university studies in Tourism. After a successful international career in the hospitality industry, I came to Austria in 2000 to study German and eventually decided to settle here. In 2006, I had the idea of combining part of my Venezuelan culture with Austrian, and how did I do it? Well, introducing and presenting something that is very representative of Latin America and the Caribbean, such as rum. This is how I founded a small rum import company, starting with one of the best rum brands in my country, Venezuela, and later incorporating many more brands from all over the Caribbean and Latin America. This led me to discover another of my passions: communication and interaction with the public, through sales, fairs, and events throughout Austria.

I realized the intercultural diversity that exists between these two cultures, especially in the field of business and commerce, which is crucial for knowing how to reach Austrian and European audiences.

I decided to pursue a master’s degree in Intercultural Studies, which provided me with the perfect tools to address the commercial aspects related to rum and aimed at the European public. I continued to expand my knowledge and entered the world of wine, becoming a sommelier and I am currently studying for the WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits (WSET Level 4). I also obtained the Ronmellière title with the international diploma in Rums and Spirits. All this has immersed me in a fascinating sensory world that is infinite.

With all the experience I have acquired in the commercial field in Austria and my knowledge in the world of rums, spirits, and wines, I have a complete set of skills to understand the tastes of the public, transmit information effectively, present products and sell them.

This is my current passion... and I am delighted to live it!

What I do

Marketing and Sales:

Since my inception in 2006 with the import company, I have focused on developing a portfolio of unique brands for the Austrian market, both in rums and wines. I have collaborated with renowned brands such as Ron Santa Teresa from Venezuela, Rones Oliver & Oliver from the Dominican Republic, Ron Cubaney, Ron Punta Cana, Ron Quorhum, and Ron Uniq. Partnerships were established with key importers, such as Compagnia dei Caraibi for Europe, the international company Ron Legendario from Valencia, Spain, and the Aloha Spirits Assets Cop with Ron Nativo from Panamá.

Business Focus:

My goal is the promotion, projection, and presentation of various brands in Austria and other European countries. I develop strategies for direct sales to wholesalers, gastronomic establishments, bars, restaurants, hotels, and specialty stores. Additionally, I represent the brands at B2B and B2C trade shows and events, conduct market analyses for sales projections, organize promotional events and product presentations, as well as tastings.

Experience

Professional Experience in Europe:

August 2004 - May 2006: DESKTOP MEDIA Advertising Agency and Event Organization. Position: Organization of Latin American focused events and fairs.

April 2006: PCM Project Consulting & Import. Position: Exclusive trade representative for the CHOCOLAN winery from Chile for Austria, Southern Germany, and Northern Italy.

2006-2016 Self-employed activity at EUROCARIBE: trading in South American spirits (rum), wine, event organization/catering, promotion of tourist projects in Latin America, and organization and support of travel groups and Spanish-speaking businesspeople in Austria. Throughout the activity, there was an expansion of the portfolio with a heightened focus on specializing as a rum expert – conducting seminars, tastings, and leadership, as well as designing intercultural training seminars.

From 2014 to May 2018, I worked at Bodega Lopez OG in Mödling, near Vienna. Responsibilities included organizing and conducting rum tastings, creating the cultural and events program, buying and selling beverages and spirits with a focus on wines from Latin America, compiling the selection of specialties (rum from over 15 countries/cocktails), and guest support.

Professional Experience in Europe:

Since June 2018, I have been employed at WEIN & CO, a wine, and spirits trade, as an

International Wine and Rum Consultant, responsible for organizing and conducting wine and

rum tastings, wine service, and guest support in the company gastronomy division.

In July 2022, I was promoted to Deputy Bar Manager at Wein & Co Stephansplatz,

coordinating, and overseeing bar/restaurant activities, including personnel management. I

continue to provide guidance on wines and rums.

In December 2022, Founder of SENSORIENCE Project - The company that operates in wide and various sectors including promotion and marketing, origin trips, beverage and spirits, training, and event planning.
